Q: I have CAT skis, but was wondering if you would recommend a pair of rollerskis for classic training.
Also, I am going to train for the Chicago marathon through October. I would like to somehow integrate your strength training and ski crossover training into my marathon training. After October, I would cut over to ski only training. Any thoughts?
A: We would recommend having rollerskis for many reasons. One is the length of the glide phase. CAT Skis have limited glide, and you cannot kick double pole. Alternating CAT skis with rollerskis can be a great combination.
Substitute your Level 3 intervals and over distance with running and that will get you ready for any long distance running event. You might need to cut over distance workout by 20-30% just because training load of running is a little bit higher than skiing or rollerskiing.
